Meet Jim Cordle, Founder

Picture
Jim Cordle was born and raised in Lancaster, Ohio.  From a young age, he has participated in a variety of sports including soccer, basketball, wrestling, track, and, of course, football.  A standout performer at Lancaster High School, Jim was a two-time 1st team All-Ohio award winner.  After receiving many scholarship offers during his junior year in high school, he committed to play football at The Ohio State University.  After finishing his senior football season, Jim decided to forgo his final wrestling season, which allowed him to graduate early and enroll at Ohio State in Spring 2005.

Success followed him at the collegiate level.  Jim was a three-year starter and a four-year letterman during his 5-year tenure at Ohio State.  He started at four different positions along the offensive line, playing in 41 games with 33 starts.  In those 33 games, the Buckeyes had a record of 28 wins and only 5 losses.  Those five years had the Buckeyes in a BCS bowl game every year, including 2 National Championship games and a Rose Bowl victory.

Jim collected plenty of hardware over the years.  He now has five Big Ten Championship rings along with five pairs of Gold Pants.  He won the Jim Parker award (given to the top offensive lineman) in 2009 and the Jim Marshall Warrior award in 2007, which is given to the toughest player.  In 2009 he was a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy (formerly known as the Draddy Trophy).  Nominated by their schools, which are limited to one nominee each, semifinalists must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, have outstanding football ability as a first team player or significant contributor, and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.  Jim displayed citizenship with a fundraiser he organized for Special Olympics called “Bowling with Buckeyes.”   This event generated over $18,000.  He was also active in FCA and Athletes in Action, where his speaking engagements for those programs tallied in the double digits. Cordle received the 2010 Rex Kern College Athlete of the Year.

His academic accomplishments are just as great.  Jim was named to the All Big Ten Academic Team for four consecutive years and graduated with a 3.27 GPA from the prestigious Fisher College of Business.  For his efforts from Bowling with Buckeyes, he won several awards including the following: 2010 Director’s Award given by the American Red Cross Fairfield County Chapter; 2010 Celebration of Possibilities Inspiration Award; 2009 Ohio Public Images Award of Merit.

Cordle was signed as a free agent by the New York Giants in 2010 and spent that fall on the practice squad.  In 2011 Jim was signed to the active roster.  He played in nine games in various roles as the Giants went on to win Super Bowl XLVI.

Jim is the Offensive Line Coordinator and Assistant Coach at Urbana University.  He also served for 2 years as the Graduate Assistant Offensive Line Coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes Football Program.

He and his wife Kerry have two sons Hunter and Harrison.
